Notch Impact Test

It is a test to determine the fracture energy of the material against dynamic loads.

After the notch impact test specimen is broken, the fracture surface can be examined and an idea about the fracture type can be obtained. These fracture types can be ductile fracture, brittle fracture and so on. Fracture energy is calculated in joules and this value varies according to specimen dimensions and test temperature. In our laboratory, the mentioned test can be performed between +10 and -196 degrees Celsius with INSTRON 450 Joule Motorised Impact device.
