Notched Breaking Test

It is a test to determine the fracture energy of the material against dynamic loads.

After the notch impact test sample is broken, the fracture surface can be examined to get an idea about the fracture type. These fracture types are ductile fracture, brittle fracture, etc. It can be in shapes. Fracture energy is calculated in joules and this value varies depending on sample dimensions and test temperature. In our laboratory, the mentioned test can be performed between +10 and -196 degrees Celsius with the INSTRON 450 Joule Motorized Impact device.
